An intimate crowd-sourcing experiment.
Folks who are interested in the 2013 Bi-Co Theater Spring Production gather here, virtually, to share ideas, resources, and pixelated fellowship.
Welcome.
I imagine that once a hermit has severed ties with society, people are wont to objectify that person. In the absence of possible communication or relation, the hermit becomes an object, a novelty, an other thing. That othering/objectifying of the hermit lifestyle may be the idea at the center of this "ornamental hermit" craze. A person who is a decoration.
Apparently, several of these Garden Hermits are documented by Edith Sitwell, occasional pal of Gertrude Stein, in a book on English Eccentrics.
